Question: What is your ideal job?
Response: As far back as I can remember, I have keen sense for details and I like numbers. There are very few jobs that entail numbers and digging into details like Auditing. This path was a natural choice. To answer your question about picking the favorite job, I think I have made that choice already. Any other job would have triggered my fancy but would not have held my interest going like the Auditing does.
For freshers’: You can use a similar answer by highlighting the things you like and how those things relate to the position you are applying for. For example, if you are applying for a programming job, you can say how you were always interested in being creative and challenging your potential and how programming has unlimited potential to create and be creative. Always connect your area of study with the key aspects of the job you are applying for.
Notes: Do not jump to say that the job you are applying for is the job of your dreams, because, your role in the job will change, you cannot forever be at the position you are applying for. However, you can, if you choose to, retire in the same profession. For example, in the above response, if you used Auditing as a position rather than profession, your answer would lose its appeal.
Variations of this question:
- What is your idea of a perfect job?
- Of all the professions out there, why did you choose to become xxxx?
- If you could undo everything you have done and start afresh, what profession would you have chosen?
- Why did you choose to become an xxxxx graduate?
- If you could pick any job on this planet, what would it be?
Trap alert: Portray love for the ‘profession’ not the ‘position’.
